Beginning Somatic Spaces - Acquaint yourself with yourself as you are and how you are. Learn the language of your body, breath and being. Befriend your body, breath and being.

Practicing taking a longer breath, situating yourself so that you are more intentional inhabiting your body. Noticing what it feels like to be embodied or to feel disjointed and not connected to your body. Giving yourself permission to be in the present moment as you can be and how you can be without judgement.

I’ll be offering practices that range from 1 minute, 5 or 10 minutes all the way up to an hour.

Offering these as to hold out the tools and practices for you to learn, especially if such spaces are new to you.

5 Minute Practice - Acquainting Yourself with Yourself

Take a few minutes here to be intentional with being in space. Take a longer breath. Inhabit your body, breath and being. Notice the soles of your feet underneath you, pay attention to what is happening now with sensation or emotion. Learning how to listen to yourself, be present to you own person.

10 Minute Practice - Breathe a Bit longer, Practice Pause

In this practice, we start in a seated posture. Welcoming ourselves into the space that we occupy. Acknowledging your body in space, taking a longer breath, practicing pause at the top and bottom of the breath. Touching the practice of noticing your breath, your body and the moment that you are inhabiting. Recognizing sensation or the lack of sensation….. Bringing intention into the space you inhabit.

20 Minute Practice - Practicing Quiet and Presence, Body Scan and Movement

In this practice, the offering is to start laying down. (Although, if your situation is you are seated or standing, this practice can be done). Giving yourself room to befriend the body during a body scan, to breathe and gently move your physical body while checking in with your thoughts and emotions. Adding a time of reflection, looking upon these 20 minutes through a “bird’s eye view.” Reflecting on where you are as you begin the practice and where participating in the practice brings you.

1 Hour Practice - Movement, Stillness and Awareness Mingle together to Create Spaces and Opportunities for Health, Hope and Healing

In this practice, the offering is to learn how to listen to one’s own body and breath as moving through a one hour program that holds opportunities for choice and reflection. Following verbal cues while listening to your own body, practicing making decisions on how and when and at what pace you are going to move and breath. Cultivating present moment awareness of emotion and sensation while exploring the edge of those felt senses.
