Experiencing the Depths of Jesus Christ

Simple surrender. The quiet joy of union.
—Reimagined from Jeanne Guyon’s original work (1685)

Begin Here: An Invitation

There are books that feel like burdens.
And there are books that feel like doors.

This one is a door.

First written in the 17th century by Jeanne Guyon—a woman of quiet fire and profound surrender—Experiencing the Depths of Jesus Christ is not a book about spiritual performance. It’s a love letter to simplicity. It’s a return to the Presence that already holds you.

In this reimagined version, I’ve stayed close to the soul of her original words, while offering new language to meet today’s reader. This is for those who ache for something more but are weary of effort. For those who long to live from the inside out. For those who are tired of religion as performance, and ready for faith as presence.

Let this not be a book you consume.
Let it be a space you rest in.
Let it lead you, gently, from the shallows to the depths.

A Gentle Pause Before Continuing

This journey is not a race. It is a return.

Before we move on, I want to offer you something that may feel countercultural in our fast-paced, content-driven world:

Pause.

Madame Guyon herself understood the human tendency to keep reading—especially when something stirs the heart. But she was wise enough to ask us to linger. To not jump ahead too quickly. To allow the soul time to be formed, not just informed.

She wrote:

“I am aware, dear reader, that nothing is going to stop you from reading all the way through this book; nonetheless, Chapter 4 is written for you to read after a strong foundation has been established in Chapters 1–3. And that should take a good while.”

So I echo her here:
If you have made your way through Chapters 1–3, and the invitation of these practices has begun to stir something in you—stay.

Stay with the simplicity.
Stay with the silence.
Stay with the slow, real work of learning to pray—not with your words, but with your life.

We will continue this reimagined journey together in May 2025, when the rest of the chapters will begin unfolding. But for now, let these first three deepen in you. Let them become lived, not just read.

And if you're coming to this after that time—and the full collection is already here—pause anyway. Let your soul take its time. These are not chapters to consume. They are companions to dwell with.

There is no hurry in the presence of God.
There is only invitation.

So walk slowly.
And when you’re ready, we’ll meet again—deeper still.

Would You Consider Supporting This Work?

If you’ve found yourself drawn into this space—
whether through the visual reflections of The Long Way Home (our contemplative illustrated series),
the reimagined writings of the mystics,
the slow unfolding of our books,
or the depth of presence in our classes and shared gatherings—
then you’re already part of this work.

We create these offerings with great care. Slowly. Intentionally. Not as content to be consumed, but as sacred ground to be entered.

If this space has nourished you,
if it has met you in your hunger,
if it has helped you feel less alone—
would you consider supporting the work?

Your support helps us:

  • Continue reimagining the wisdom of ancient voices for modern souls

  • Offer free and accessible resources to those in spiritual transition

  • Sustain the creation of our visual prayer series (The Long Way Home)

Whether it’s a one-time gift or ongoing support,
thank you for being part of this unfolding.

We don’t chase algorithms here. We tend fires. If this space has met you, held you, or simply helped you breathe—thank you for being here. You are always welcome. No offering required. No expectation. But if you feel led to support what’s being created here, we’ll simply say—thank you.
