Module 2: The Body in the Quiet

Stillness is not disconnection—it’s deeper presence.

In Module 1, we entered the threshold of silence.
Now, we step further in—into the place where quiet meets the body.

When movement stops, the body begins to speak.
Muscles soften. Breath deepens. The constant hum of alertness begins to fade.

And yet, stillness can also stir restlessness or discomfort. This is not a sign you are doing it wrong—it is the body’s way of adjusting, releasing, and learning that it is safe to be here.

Silence is not an escape from the body.
It is a return to the body as the place where God meets us.

From the very beginning, Scripture tells us that God breathes life into dust. Jesus often withdrew to quiet, embodied places—gardens, hillsides, and shorelines—meeting the Father not apart from His humanity, but within it.

What You’ll Experience

Listening to the body in stillness — noticing the signals that rise when motion stops, and welcoming them as part of the journey.

Breath as a steady anchor — letting breath draw you back into the present when the mind wanders or the body resists.

Grounding for safety — learning simple ways to feel supported so stillness becomes a place of rest, not tension.

Scripture as embodied truth — remembering that God meets you in your physical being, and that the quiet within the body is sacred space.

Guided Practice

1–3 Minutes of Silence — Extending your capacity for quiet while staying anchored in the body.

  • Orient yourself to the space around you.

  • Settle into support—feet grounded, body at rest.

  • Follow the natural rhythm of your breath.

Somatic Focus

Orienting, Breath, and Grounding

  • Gently notice your surroundings to signal safety.

  • Observe the natural rise and fall of your breath.

  • Feel the support beneath you, allowing gravity to hold you.

Reflection Questions

  • How did your body feel at the start of this silence? How did it feel at the end?

  • What shifts—physical, emotional, or spiritual—did you notice?

  • Where might God be speaking to you through what you sensed physically?
