Thursday: The Rattling Begins

Ezekiel 37:7 — “And as I prophesied, there was a sound, a rattling noise, and the bones came together, bone to bone.”

Sacred Invitation

It begins with a sound.
Not loud. Not clear.
But unmistakable.
The bones begin to shift.

Not because Ezekiel forced them to—
but because he spoke what God told him to say.

This is the day we listen for the first movement.
The rattling that means something is responding.
Something is remembering how to come together.

Daily Reflection

There are seasons where everything feels still.
Then, one day, something stirs.

It might be grief surfacing that you thought was long gone.
Or a word that breaks open something deep inside.
It might be a memory, a longing, a quiet ache that says—“I’m still here.”

We don’t command the bones to rattle.
But we make space for the sound.

Sometimes healing starts in discomfort.
Sometimes the first sign of life is unsettling.
The bones don’t come together all at once.
They move—piece by piece, click by click—toward connection again.

This is the beginning.
Let it be strange.
Let it be enough.

Somatic Practice: Listen for the Rattle

Sit or lie down in stillness.
Close your eyes and scan through your body from head to toe.

Where do you notice movement?
Where do you feel resistance?
Where do you sense a subtle shift—however small?

Don’t analyze.
Just listen.

Then, gently stretch your fingers. Your wrists. Your ankles.
Let your body respond, without force.
Notice: something in you still wants to move.

Repeat quietly:
“Something is stirring.
I am listening.”

Closing Prayer

God of the first small sounds,
Thank you for the movement I cannot make happen.
Thank you for what shifts even when I feel stuck.
Let me hear what is beginning,
And trust what is coming together.
Piece by piece.
Amen.
