HOLY TUESDAY
Scripture for the Day
“They came to him and said, ‘Teacher, we know you are a man of integrity…’”
—Mark 12:14a
Sacred Invitation
Today, Jesus speaks—
but not to impress,
not to win,
not to rise.
He speaks truth in the face of challenge.
He names things that no one wants to name.
He offers stories that sound simple—
but carry swords inside.
The questions they ask him today
are not honest ones.
They are traps.
Bait.
And yet—he answers.
With wisdom. With stillness.
With the kind of presence that disarms.
This is not a gentle day.
It is a day of confrontation beneath a calm surface.
A day of tension rising quietly in the background,
like a storm behind a thin curtain.
Daily Reflection
Jesus is teaching in the temple for the final time.
And though the words are ancient, they feel alarmingly close.
What belongs to God?
What does it mean to wait with your lamp lit?
Can you still love when betrayal is walking toward you?
These are not abstract thoughts.
They are the center of the story.
The center of our lives.
Holy Tuesday is a day for listening carefully.
Not to the crowd.
Not to the noise.
But to the one who still teaches—
with parables that crack open the soul.
What is he asking you today?
What is he inviting you to see?
Somatic Practice: A Listening Walk
Take a short walk, even just around your home.
Move slowly. Intentionally.
With each step, say inwardly:
“I am listening.”
Let the body lead the prayer.
Let your breath stay low and steady.
No need to chase insight.
Just listen.
You may hear nothing.
Or you may find something rising you didn’t expect.
Let that be your parable.
Closing Prayer
O Christ,
You taught until the end.
Even when no one really wanted to hear.
Even when they came only to trap, to test, to twist.
Still—you spoke.
Still—you stayed.
Give me ears to hear the questions
beneath the questions.
And the truth behind the words.
Give me the courage
to listen without defense.
To teach without performance.
To stay grounded in your presence
when others bring distraction, drama, or disapproval.
Let me walk with wisdom today.
And stay close to your voice.
Amen.
