Friday: The Fragrance That Remains

John 12:7 – “She has anointed me for my burial.”

Sacred Invitation

The jar is broken.
The moment has passed.
But the scent remains.

It lingers in the folds of clothing,
in the fibers of the room,
in the memory of those who did not understand.

Love has a way of leaving its mark.
Even after the act is finished,
its essence remains.

Let this be the day you sit with what still clings—
the beauty that cannot be washed away,
the offering that refuses to fade.

Daily Reflection

Mary’s act was not symbolic.
It was preparation.

It was the laying down of beauty
in the face of death.
It was the pouring out of tenderness
when others refused to name what was coming.

And Jesus received it.

Not as waste.
Not as sentiment.
But as holy preparation.

Sometimes the most prophetic thing we can do
is refuse to look away.
To stay near.
To let our love mark the moment.

What have you poured out in love—
and how does it still cling to you?

Somatic Practice

Sit in stillness.
Cup your hands together and hold them near your face.
Imagine the scent of what you’ve offered—
the prayers, the sacrifices, the quiet acts no one saw.

Breathe in:
“Let the fragrance remain.”
Breathe out:
“Let it prepare the way.”

Let yourself feel the invisible weight of what you’ve given.
It was not wasted.

Evening Prayer

Christ who does not despise the offering,
let me trust that what I’ve poured in love still lingers.
Even if no one saw.
Even if it was misunderstood.
Let it be part of the way you are made ready.

Amen.
