A Shared Practice: Fragrance That Remains

On Saturday night, the night before Palm Sunday,
light a candle in a quiet space.
Place a bowl of warm water nearby.
If you have essential oil, drop some in.

Let the scent rise. Let the room grow still.

Write down one thing you are releasing,
and one thing you are preparing your heart to carry into Holy Week.
Read them aloud if you can.

Then simply whisper:
“I will not rush ahead. I will stay with this moment.”

Let the candle burn slowly.
Let the scent linger.
Let the stillness hold you.

You are not alone.

Saturday: The Stillness Before the Shouting

The Night Before Palm Sunday

Sacred Invitation

This is the hush before the turning.
Before the palms are cut,
before the donkey is led forward,
before the crowds cry out—

there is this quiet.

A single candle.
A lingering scent.
A body not yet broken,
but prepared.

Let this be the night you do not rush ahead.
Let this be the space where stillness holds you
before the story unfolds.

Daily Reflection

Jesus is still here.
The room is still full of the scent.
The night is still tender with what’s been poured out.

And yet—everything is about to change.

This is the final evening before the descent begins.
And even now, Jesus does not run.
He stays.

You are invited to do the same.

To sit with what is sacred and unresolved.
To hold space for what is coming
without trying to control the ending.

Let this be a night of honoring.
Of presence.
Of unhurried love.

Somatic Practice

As dusk falls, light a candle.
Place it in a quiet space and let it burn slowly.

Sit nearby and place your hand over your heart.

Breathe in:
“I will not rush ahead.”
Breathe out:
“I will stay with this moment.”

Let the glow keep you company.
Let the stillness be your sanctuary.

Evening Prayer

Jesus,
in this quiet before the crowd,
let me stay near.
Not to move quickly,
but to love steadily.

I will not look away.

Amen.
