Somatic Based Yoga Practice (Hour Length) Overcoming Regret (and other strong sensations/emotions)

What is a somatic approach to strong emotion, specifically in regards the sensation/emotion of regret?

Consider having strategies within your own personhood that could assist you in the regulation of strong emotions. How you exist within your body and nervous system, breathe and move throughout your day are always being impacted by the stresses of life and living. Learning how to regulate and create calm are transformational skills.

Being able to consciously and intentionally inhabit your body, expand and lengthen your breath and talk to yourself from a place of compassion and wisdom are revolutionary life skills that need to be cultivated ever more in the world we live in.

The "WHAT" of this is about the strategies and tools that help you create spaces of calm amidst the stresses of life and living.

Somatic literally means as "to relating to the body, especially as distinct from the mind."

Ask the question: How are you wired? When strong sensation or emotion arise, how do you respond? When situations and circumstances or the stresses of life cross the terrain of your day, what does that feel like?

When I learned how to use my body, breath and awareness to create and cultivate spaces that I could engage with the present moment and not be pummeled by emotion or sensation (especially regret), I experienced calm and my life changed in the most amazing ways. In this class, I hold out the strategies and techniques to help you create space and calm in your life.

While I do not physically do any of the movements, (my heart is that you don’t mirror another, but explore and discover how your body wants to take the verbal cue and move)if you would rather a video over audio experience. Here is that video.

Inspired by Lewis Carole’s poem, The Jabberwocky, and one word, MANGALISO, I set out to focus on how others can daily experience the amazement (Mangaliso is Zulu for “YOU ARE AN AMAZEMENT”) of their own being.

There are frightful realities that exist, learning how to overcome them and thrive is what I am about in life and at work. Whether the “beast” is imposter syndrome, the inner critic, stress, anxiety, burn-out or fatigue there are ways to vanquish the obstacles that stand in the way.

Hi, my name is Elle Miller, and I am a passionate trauma-informed SOMATIC therapist (C-IAYT, 500 hr Therapeutic Yoga Specialist, 200 hr Experienced Yoga Instructor) who truly believes in the healing power of integrative mind-body-spirit modalities.

The greatest gift somatic therapy has given me is deeper breaths and a calmer mind, more connection to myself as I truly am as well as the ability to connect to others more authentically.

I’ve owned local businesses in Blacksburg, VA and Charlotte, NC for many years and have been involved in online leadership since 2004. I have a wealth of knowledge and experience that will help me help you, whether that’s in-person or online.
